Menzi Masuku has told chippautdfc.com that he is delighted to be at Chippa United and cannot wait to don the blue and white jersey.
The player was welcomed by Executive Chairman, Siviwe Mpengesi and the rest of the Management at Club’s offices at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth ahead of the season’s opening encounter against Free State Stars on Tuesday evening.
“I am really excited to be here. I received a warm welcome from the Executive Chairman and everyone at the office. I am already feeling at home,” said the player that represented South Africa during the Olympics in Brazil.
“I want to give all to the Club. If felt great just walking at the stadium and I want to represent the Club with honour and hopefully create lasting memories not only for me but for the fans.
The KwaMashu born affectionately known as “Slyzer Tsotsi” midfielder also had took time to set the record straight about perception that he does not want to come down to PE following the agreement between Orlando Pirates and Chippa United.
“I am not someone that reads a lot of what is being written in the media. It was clear though that a lot was said about what I said; to put the record straight; I had options but Chippa United was always my choice. I wanted to come to Chippa United because of the style of football that is being played here.
“I watched the side couple of times last season and I know that it is a perfect platform for me to take another game to another level.
“There were just few things to iron out and at that time it was not an appropriate time to speak to the media about my move. I am glad finally I can put this behind me and focus on my career at Chippa United,” insisted Masuku who was presented no. 41 jersey by Executive Chairman, ‘Chippa’ Mpengesi.
Masuku also reflected on his time in Brazil with the South African U23 side; “It was a massive experience to represent South Africa in the Olympics. I came up with some of the young best players in the world. I am happy with what we did.
“We were unfortunate that we did not proceed. It was disappointing but it was such a great experience. I am hoping to share my experience with my new teammates,” added Masuku.
