Chief Operations Officer, Lukanyo Mzinzi has described the opening of the first ever Chippa United Store at Boardwalk on Friday, 13 January 2017 as an important milestone for the football club.
Chippa United in partnership with Technical Sponsor, Canterbury, officially opened a store on Friday, 13 January 2017, becoming one of few Clubs to open their own store.
“This is an important milestone for such a humble Club.
“We have gone through up and downs during our short existence, but this ranks up there among our best moments,” said Mzinzi.
“Thank you to the Marketing Team, Business Development Officer, Nombasa Zini, the staff at the store and all those who worked long hours to make this dream a reality,” added Mzinzi.
In attendance at the grand opening were the Honourable Deputy Mayor Mongameli Bobani, CEO Peter Koutroulis, Pastor Edward, General Manager Wanda Mbenguzana, with Head of Marketing & Communications Luthando ‘Trompies’ Zibeko as program director.
Deputy Mayor, Mongameli Bobani paid tribute to Executive Chairman, Siviwe Mpengesi in absentia; “He is a man with a vision and we had no second thoughts of supporting his vision and giving home to this football club.
“I would like congratulate you on this latest initiative and I have no doubt people of the Metro will support this store,” he added.
Head Coach Dan Malesela, the Technical Team were in attendance along with the Team led by captain, Thamsanqa Sangweni.
Malesela who watched the fans singing his song prior to his speech, paid a glowing tribute to the fans and people of the province for rallying behind the Club since its inception.
“We owe it to you to give our best on the pitch.
He said jokingly; “I am happy to be here, closer to you and not sitting on the bench.
“On behalf of the players and my Technical Team we would like to express our gratitude for your support in the past year,”
DJ Deep Chronix (Mkhonto Majodina) kept the the guests entertained on the ones and two’s.
The moment everyone has been waiting arrived as Deputy Mayor, Mongameli Bobani was joined by Peter Koutroulis, Lukhanyo Mzinzi and Dan Malesela to cut the ribbon.
