Executive Chairman, Siviwe ‘Chippa’ Mpengesi has sent heartfelt condolences to the Molemela and Bloemfontein Celtic family following the passing of legend, Dr Petrus ‘Whitehead’ Molemela on Sunday morning.

Ntate Molemela is the founder of Bloemfontein Celtic Football Club and was honoured last year when Seisa Ramabodu Stadium in Bloemfontein was renamed Dr. Petrus Molemela Stadium.

Chippa United Chairman said; “We are all shocked by the news of his passing, this is an immense loss for football in this country. We cannot finish talking about the history South African football without mentioning the name of Ntate Molemela. It is people like Dr Molemela who paved a way for us to get involved infootball, his passion for the game was second to none.

“We must also congratulate the Free State government that saw it fit to honour him for his contribution in the game while still alive. The Dr. Petrus Molemela Stadium is just one reminder of the contribution of this giant, we are grateful to his family for sharing him with us.

“On behalf of Chippa United in its entirety, I would like to send my heartfelt condolences to the Molemela Family, Bloemfontein Celtic Football Club and the Province of the Free State following the passing of a legend.
