Executive Chairman, Siviwe Mpengesi has announced the signing of Fares Hachi on a short term deal until end of the season from Mamelodi Sundowns.

Hachi joined an array of signings the Port Elizabeth-based Club has made during this January transfer window period, which includes Linda “Figo” Mntambo, Mxolisi “Akanamali” Macuphu, Bantu Mzwakali and Thabo “Jomo” Rakhale.

He played in the Champions League for both Mamelodi Sundowns and ES Setif.

Mpengesi said this signing is a clear indication of Club’s ambition this season.

“The signing of Fares Hachi is a strong statement and augers well with our ambitions this season.

“He is a player that has played in the Champions League, and his experience will help us during the second round of the season.

“His talent is not in doubt, despite not seeing much game time at Mamelodi Sundowns.

“We welcome him in the blue and white of Chippa United, and wish him all the best during his stay with us. He will get all the support for him to fulfill his potential.

“I would like to express my gratitude to Mamelodi Sundowns for the professionalism they displayed throughout the negotiations,” concluded Mpengesi.

Hachi joined his new teammates for training immediately after being unveleid to the media on Friday by Head Coach, Teboho Moloi and Football Manager, Peter Koutroulis.

“I am excited to be joining the Chilli Boys,” said Hachi.

“I was first fascinated by the nickname, Chilli Boys when I saw the flag, Chilli Boys.

“I want to thank the Club for giving me an opportunity to come here. I already feel at home despite being here for few hours,” he said with a smile.

“Chippa United has evolved from last season, and you could see not only in the games against Mamelodi Sundowns but they have been strong this season.

“They have clear objectives to finish as high as possible on the league table and I am happy to make a contribution towards that.

“There is a lot of talent here; (Kurt) Lentjies, the midfielder Abel (Mabaso), the winger on the left, no 7 (Paseka Mako) to mention but a few. Players with good energy always looking to attack.

” There is lot of quality and I will have to give my all to get a nod from Head Coach,”

Hachi seem to enjoy the turf of the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium as he took pictures during his unveiling.

“What else do you need? Shirt and your boots. This is a world class facility and I am happy to call it home,” added Hachi.

Head Coach, Teboho Moloi had already indicated that he will not wait  long before fielding Hachi as long as his paperwork is sorted with the League.

Chippa United will host Golden Arrows at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Sunday, 21 January 2018.
