Rhulani Manzini has told chippautdfc.co.za that he and his teammates are raring to go following five weeks of preseason training.

The Chilli Boys will welcome Free State Stars at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Tuesday, 23 August 2016 for their first ABSA Premiership game of the season. Kickoff is at 19h30.

Chippa United kicked off their preseason in Port Elizabeth spending weeks at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium before embarking on a three-week training camp in KwaZulu/Natal and Gauteng before continuing with their preparations for the upcoming season at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.

The Port Elizabeth-based side has been boosted with the return of sharp shooter, Rhulani Manzini (28) who missed the last five games of the season due to injury where he broke his metatarsal ahead of the game against Polokwane City in April early this year.

“I am ready and together with my teammates we are raring to go. The mood in the camp is high,” said Manzini on Monday speaking after morning training session.

Manzini affectionately known at the Club as “Iron Ball” said the new players are gelling nicely following a three week camp; “The camp was very important for our preparations for the season.

“We had lot of players coming in and it was important to know everyone at both social and on the playing field.

“It was also the first time for us to go to preseason with Coach, Dan (Malesela) who told us about what is expected from each and every one of us this coming season.

“We are already aware that it is not going to be a tough season due to the way we finished last season. We need to double our efforts on the pitch and continue making our fans proud.

Manzini is also delighted to have put his injury worries behind; “I struggled a bit when we came back for the preseason but now I have fully recovered and happy with my level of fitness.

“I scored four goals last season and this season I want to reach double figures and with the help of my teammates and Technical Team this is possible,” added the Mpumalanga born.

Rhulani Manzini is in his second season with Chippa United having joined the Club from Platinum Stars at the beginning of last season. He has also featured for the likes of Witbank Spurs, Sivutsa Stars and Jomo Cosmos.
