MEC for Sports & Recreation in the Eastern Cape, Pemmy Majodina has thrown her weight behind the Chilliboys ahead of what promises to be an explosive encounter against Kaizer Chiefs at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Saturday, 03 December 2016.

Majodina was in the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro attending to government business before deciding to make a stop over at the stadium to see Dan Malesela and his charges.

Chippa United has been going through a rough patch lately following a bright start to the 2016/2017 season.

“Chippa United remains the pride of this province (Eastern Cape), and the support we have for you has not shaken, that I can assure you,” said Majodina.

“The people of this province love you. You are our hope, and you must always remember that when you pull on the blue and white of Chippa United.

“Coach (Dan Malesela) the Technical Team and players, this is an opportunity for me to thank you for the joy you have brought to our homes since your arrival as a team.

“We will be commemorating the passing of the late Madiba this weekend in Mthatha and would have loved to have you over there, but with your schedule including MDC Festival in East London, we understand that it is not possible.

“I wish you all the best for your game against Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday.

There are two games more games after Saturday, before the Christmas recess and we will be there in numbers to support you. We are behind you all the way,” continued Majodina.

Referring to the 16 Days of Activism and festive season, Majodina also reminded the players of their status and their role in the community.

“You are role models to the youth of this province and beyond, remember to carry yourselves well during the festive season. Do not do what I would not do,” she added with a smile.

Kick-off for the game on Saturday is at 18h00.
