Chippa United Head Coach, Dan Malesela believes Chippa United can beat Orlando Pirates the two sides lock horns in what promises to be a thrilling clash at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth on Wednesday, 11 May 2016.

Orlando Pirates has found it difficult to beat Chippa United in the past and left Port Elizabeth last season with their tails in between the legs following a superb goal from David Zulu. They did have a last laugh though the Nedbank Cup semi finalists beating 10 men Chippa United 4-1 at Orlando Stadium Stadium early this season.

Chippa United will be looking to return back to their winning ways after being held to a goalless draw by Golden Arrows in East London over the weekend.

“Yes we can,” responded Dan Malesela when he was asked a question during Press Conference on Monday, 09 May if Chippa United have what it takes to beat Orlando Pirates.

“We can beat them for sure. We are playing at home and if you look at our record at home it has been impressive this season. We are playing in front of our crowds and we want to give them something to cheer about this season.

“We are playing against a tough team in Orlando Pirates. They are coming back from a draw as well and will be looking to make amends. Our focus though is on our game and the mood in the camp is high ahead of this game.

“We played a good game last Saturday (against Golden Arrows) and the only thing that was lacking was putting the ball in the back of the net. We are working on rectifying that ahead of this game,” said a confident looking Malesela.

Malesela still has fond memories of his time at Orlando Pirates captaining the side to Bob Save victory against archrivals Kaizer Chiefs back in 1988.

“I am always respectful of my roots. I will forever have fond memories of my time at Pirates and the opportunity I was given to captain the team. I will never forget that. Tomorrow though it is about my job here as a Head Coach, to help Chippa United win the game,” added Malesela.
