Executive Chairman, Siviwe Mpengesi expressed his gratitude to the delegation of Atletico de Madrid following a meeting at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Tuesday, 20 September 2016.
Spanish giants, Atletico Madrid were hosted by Chippa United in conjunction with the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality represented by Deputy Executive Mayor, Mongameli Bobani and Executive Director of Sport Ms Noxolo Nqwazi.
Atletico sent a high powered delegation in Director General: Academy and International Expansion, Emilio Boullosa and Development Project Manager for Academy and International Expansion, Maria Chiviri.
“I am excited about the discussions we had today with Atletico de Madrid. The meeting was a resounding success.
“I thank you for coming to our shores and to the Municipality named after the father of the nation, the iconic Nelson Mandela.
“The idea when I started this project was to create a footballing brand that is recognized internationally.
“We are delighted that as one of the most recognized brands in world football, you took time to meet with us this afternoon,” said an elated Mpengesi.
“There will be a follow up meeting and we will in due course make an announcement, ” added Mpengesi.
The delegation from Madrid will on Wednesday, 21 September join Deputy Executive Mayor, Mongameli Bobani and Chairman, Siviwe Mpengesi in Uitenhage where they will hand over playing equipment at Nokwezi Primary School in Kwa-Nobuhle, before attending the official opening of a sports field in Walmer.
Later on, the delegation will be the esteemed guests of the Chairman at the MTN8 semi-final decider between Chippa United and Mamelodi Sundowns in Pretoria.
