Executive Chairman, Siviwe Mpengesi has announced the signing of four players, Thabo Rakhale, Nkosinathi Mthiyane, Mxolisi Machupu and Linda Mntambo.
The signings will go a long way to add strength to a side that has already impressed many during the first half of the season.
Chippa United is currently in 8th position on the Absa Premiership table, and will be looking to consolidate a top 8 position.
Highly skillful, Thabo Rakhale (27) affectionately known in football circles as “Jomo” joins from Orlando Pirates on a three year deal.
Nkosinathi Mthiyane (29), a reliable leftback, returns to Chippa United after leaving the side at the end of the 2015/2016 season.
Jomo Cosmos duo, Linda “Figo” Mntambo (28) and Mxolisi Macuphu (28) have been impressive for Ezenkosi this season, scoring an impressive 10 goals between them in the NFD and will further boost Chippa United midfield.
An elated Mpengesi welcomed the quadruple to the Port Elizabeth outfit.
“The signing of the four players is a clear indication of our intention to consolidate our position in the top 8, and play continental football next season.
Thabo Rakhale is a typical Chippa United player and will add flair and goals to the side.
“We are delighted to welcome back Nkosinathi Mthiyane, a player who is familiar with the culture of the Club, and will get an opportunity to revive his career,” said Mpengesi.
“I have been following the career of both Mntambo and Macuphu at Jomo Cosmos and they were both arguably the most exciting players in the NFD.”
They will start training with the Team on Thursday and should all be available for selection for the first game of the year against AmaZulu” continued Mpengesi.
“There will be players that will leave us during this window period, and we will announce the names in due course ,” added Mpengesi.
Meanwhile the Club confirms the return of Roger Sikhakhane, who joins as Technical Adviser/Assistant to Teboho Moloi.
