Head Coach, Dan ‘Dance’ Malesela believes that his charges have what it takes to proceed to the next round of the Nedbank Cup when they square up against First Division outfit, Jomo Cosmos in the quarter finals at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium. Kickoff for the game is at 15h00.
Chippa United have been impressive in the Nedbank Cup where they are yet to concede a single goal, and will be hoping to continue with their form in the cup when they welcome a tricky side in Jomo Cosmos.
It will not be the first time for Malesela to come up against Jomo Cosmos in the same competition as he reflected ahead of the game; “During my time with United FC we came up against Cosmos. They are always a difficult side to play against but we managed to go through to the next round and I am hopeful that we can have the same fortune on Saturday.
“It is not an easy one for us. I watched them against Bidvest Wits and against Thanda Royal Zulu; you never really know the structure. They play counter attacks and pack the defence. I hope we can create openings. We have been able to open up teams with packed defence this season,” continued Malesela.
“We have a plan. Cup matches are different and we know what we going to do come Saturday. It is important that we are tight defensively. No more slip ups,” said Malesela.
“Dance” as Malesela is affectionately known in football circles reiterated his wish to win the Nedbank Cup; “This is not disrespecting anyone but there is no use of competing if you do not think you can win. We are going to compete.
“It is important for us to respond following the defeat last week and hopefully we have one or two players back from injury. The injury situation at the Club has not been good but we should have enough ammunition come Saturday,” added Malesela.
Tickets for the game are on sale at Ticket Pro outlets nationwide selling for R40 adults and R15 for children under the age of 12.
