Injured striker, Rhulani ‘Iron Ball’ Manzini has backed his teammates to bounce back from a recent slump that has seen the Chilli Boys lose two consecutive games.

Chippa United was knocked out of Telkom Knockout by newly promoted Highlands Park in their last game, and in a league match before away to Golden Arrows.

After starting the season like house-on-fire, the Port Elizabeth-based team has come under a lot of criticism from certain quarters, but Manzini believes it’s a matter of time before the results start coming.

Manzini has been forced to watch from the sidelines after suffering an injury early September.

“This team is full of belief,” said Manzini speaking to chippautdfc.co.za on Monday afternoon.

“We were unlucky on both games. We created more scoring chances in our last game, all we need now is to start converting them.

“The spirit in the Team remains high, and the vibe is good. We have two back-to-back games at home, and this gives us an opportunity to bounce back.

“We are playing at home in front of our supporters. There are no easy games at this level, and we still need to be at our best.

Chippa United has an outstanding record at home, having last lost a game at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium back in January against Bidvest Wits.

“The support we get from the Supporters rubs off with us. The songs lift us, and I hope the voices are even louder this week,” continued Manzini.

The Bushbuckridge-born striker currently on three goals this season also gave an update on his injury.

“Rehab is going well, I am grateful to our Medical Team for the treatment. I am no longer walking on crutches and the pain has subsided.  I firmmly believe that everything that is happening is all a part of God’s plan.

“I miss being on the pitch with my teammates, and  am looking forward to bouncing back hopefully even stronger than I started the season

“I’d like to thank the team in its entirety, my church and my family – in particular my wife, for their well wishes and support.  Their positive messages give me strength.”

Rhulani Manzini scored the decisive goal the last time Chippa United and Bloemfontein Celtic locked horns.

Kick-off for the match is 19:30.
