Caretaker Coach, Mbuyiselo Sambu believes that his charges put up a good fight on Saturday against Ajax Cape Town despite losing the game by a solitary goal.

Chilli Boys took the field without inspirational captain, Thamsanqa ‘Pirlo’ Sangweni, and tough as teak defender, Justice Chabalala who are both on suspension.

Ajax Cape Town needed a 79th minute strike from Thabo Mosadi and couple of good saves from their goalkeeper, Brandon Peterson to “steal” the three points from the hosts.

Sambu in charge of the team for the second consecutive game, was impressed with the attitude despite the loss, “The players put up a good fight, and if you do that you give yourself a chance to win games. The desire to win and the intent to score on Saturday was evident with the number of opportunities we created. The next step is for us to convert the opportunities we create.

“We are disappointed to lose the game, especially playing at home in front of our fans. We should not be losing games at home at this stage of the season.

“Viera” as Sambu is affectionately known in football circles said he told the players to keep their heads up after the game; “I told them to keep a positive attitude going to the next game. The squad is united and motivated to fight for this badge.

“The talk after the game was positive, and all I saw were players who want to put their bodies on the line, and we have the next game to prove it on the pitch,” added Sambu.

Chippa United is currently on 13th position on the log with 24 points, and only three games to play.
