Head Coach, Dan Malesela has revealed that as the Technical Team they are doing all they can to drum into the players the importance of winning every game ahead of the Absa Premiership fixture against Maritzburg United at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Tuesday, 25 April 2017.

Chippa United made history on Saturday when they beat Jomo Cosmos to proceed to the semi finals of Nedbank Cup for the first time since the Club was established back in 2010 but a concern is growing that they have not been able to replicate the same form in the Absa Premiership.

The Nelson Mandela Bay based side is currently lying in 12th position in the league log with just 24 points after 24 games and despite winning the last three cup games at home they have drawn all their last four games at home.

ChilliBoys have gone nine league matches without a win and lost their last league game away to Kaizer Chiefs 10 days ago.

“We are trying to regulate the balance between both the cup and the league. Every game is important. As a professional you must have pride, you want to win every game, cup or league including friendly games you want to win,” said Malesela speaking to chippautdfc.co.za about the importance of the game against Maritzburg United.

“The progress in the cup might be a factor but I am not on the minds of the players. Everyone is aware how important is every game is for the Club,” continued Malesela.

Malesela was pleased with the performance of the fringe players against Jomo Cosmos. Zephaniah Mbokoma was awarded Man of the Match award, while Vusi “Skheshekheshe” Ncube showed glimpses of what he can do.

“I told them if they want to be considered for selection on Tuesday they have to show what they can offer on against Jomo Cosmos. “Zeph” (Mbokoma) did well to win himself Man of the Match, I would have chosen someone else.

“Vusi (Mncube) did well I hope he does not cramp. I was pleased with their performances and that of the team but we will have to improve going to the game against Maritzburg United,” added Malesela.

Tickets for the game are on sale at Ticket Pro outlets nationwide selling for R40 adults and R15 for children under the age of 12.

Kickoff for the game is scheduled for 19h30.
