Ayabulela Konqobe has told chippautdfc.co.za that he is delighted to be a Chilli Boy, and is looking forward to making history with the Port Elizabeth-based side.
Regarded as one of the finest centre backs of his generation, Konqobe penned a three-year-deal with Chippa United and started training under the tutelage of Dan Malesela last week.
Speaking during the Club’s CSI Program with Red Cross in Motherwell on Wednesday he said, “I am very excited to be part of Chippa United .
“It’s a new start , new journey & new challenge for me to become a better person and player,” he said.
“The reception was amazing, meeting alot of players that I’ve played with , players who come from the same place as me .
“Head Coach, Dan Malesela was brilliant from day one giving me a warm welcome and I’m excited to be working with him,”
Konqobe (21) refused to dwell on reasons for the delay in him joining Chippa United saying he is just relieved the “wait” is over.
“Yeah it’s a huge relief , its never nice knowing you might be out for a long time cause of certain things you can’t control, but I’m glad it was just fixed swifly and quickly .
“So now it’s up to me to focus on my football cause that’s the only motivation that kept me going,”
Konqobe having won First Division title with Thanda Royal Zulu last season, added that it is his wish to win titles with Chippa United, “Titles , every player dreams about titles and I’m young . I still have plans to win alot of championships and which better team to do it with then Chippa,”
