Midfielder, Mbulelo Strydom Wambi has urged his teammates to remain focused ahead of the Absa Premiership trip to SuperSport United at Lucas Moripe Stadium in Pretoria on Wednesday, 14 September 2016.
The Chilli Boys have had a superb start to the season, as they brushed aside Free State Stars in the league opener and are in the semi finals of MTN8.
Wambi (29) in his first season in the Premier League has been a vital cog in the Chippa United engine room alongside skipper, Thami Sangweni.
He was at his best on Sunday against Mamelodi Sundowns where he was named Man of the Match.
“It felt good to win the award. I am grateful to my teammates for support on the day and to the Technical Team for opportunity,” said the player affectionately known as “Cash & Carry”.
Wambi though, feels the focus must quickly change from MTN8 to SuperSport, “The most important game in football is the next game,” said Wambi.
“It is important for us to do well in each and every game we play, and at the moment they don’t come any better than our next opponents.
SuperSport United have had a rather slow start, losing their first two games of the season, but Wambi insisted that he and his teammates are focused on their game and not SuperSport’s start this season.
“We are focused on our game and what we must do to come back to Nelson Mandela Bay with a positive result.
“We feel that we can still improve as a team and play much better this season. We are only three games into the season and, we must remain grounded,” added Wambi.
Kick-off for the game is at 19h30.
